Urbanclap was co-founded by Abhiraj Bhal IIT-K Engineer and an IIM-A MBA, along with his batchmate from IIT-Kanpur Varun Khaitan. Both of them after their stints with Boston Consulting Group, Singapore, and America respectively started a movie streaming startup called CinemaBox.
The duo later met Raghav Chandra a University of California Berkeley graduate who had previously worked with Twitter and other similar organizations and was working on an auto aggregator platform called Buggy.in.
The trio then started Urban Clap in the year 2014. Urbanclap (now known as Urban Company) is a web and app-based marketplace that enables customers to book beauty services, painting, plumbing, appliance maintenance, and a wide range of services from the comfort of their homes.

Under this initiative, Urban Company CEO: all Urban Company employees will be allowed to take unlimited sick leaves if they’re suffering from a mental or a physical illness, especially if they have contracted COVID- 19.
